Planning and development advice is a core service provided by Clifford Dann. The firm has acquired immense knowledge of the area over many years and has wide experience of local planning authorities.
The Planning & Development Department is based at Lewes and is headed by Kingsley Roger-Jones FRICS. David Campion MRICS FBIAC provides specialist advice on rural planning.
The department undertakes a wide range of planning work including applications and appeals, forward planning work on local plans and development appraisals.
We deal with proposals relating to most types of properties and development, both large and small, including:
- new build for residential and business premises
- changes of use of buildings and land
- conversion schemes for the re-use of buildings
- householder development
- listed building consents
- certificates of lawful use and development
Proposals relating to listed properties and to properties in conservation areas require special consideration, for which we have the expertise.
We also submit representations on behalf of objectors to planning application and advise on all types of appeals.
Planning authorities are currently involved in producing Local Plans. In due course, the South Downs National Park Authority will adopt its own Local Plan with policies specific to the Park.
National policies have also changed. The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) is material to the determination of applications. There is also the National Planning Policy Guidance (NPPG).
Through the firm's association with Parker Dann, Chartered Town Planners of Lewes, additional expertise is readily available.
The planning system continues to undergo major changes. The importance of receiving good advice is ever present.
